Each of us is born a Millionaire
Yes, you read that right: Each of us is born a millionaire.
Let me explain.
The average human spends roughly 79 years or 28.835 days on Earth.
So, there are an average of 692.040 hours or
41.522.400 minutes to live our lives.
You see, we are all born a millionaire (given the fact that we don’t get into a fatal accident or catch any incurable diseases during our time on Earth).
This really hit me last month. When time is our most valuable asset, why do so many of us spend it with worrying, hustling, scrolling, consuming,… instead of doings the things that truly make us happy? Humans are weird creatures (yes, I often think that about myself when I catch myself doing stupid things like scrolling social media, watching Netflix until late at night, eating too much ice cream – even though I know my belly won’t like it..).
What do you do with your million minutes?
I don’t want to spend my life behind the screens consuming. I want a life filled with nature, laughter, books, good food and my favorite humans. This is the “simple life” I am craving. I want to feel the sun touch my skin and smell the roses in the garden – without sharing a picture. I know what I need and what I want – which isn’t time spend on any app.
Isn’t it crazy that we all know so much and yet when it comes to making real change in our lives, we often don’t come far – at least not alone.
How often do you take time to savour the small moments in your life (without taking a picture or telling anyone about it)?
Things like:
The first sips of morning coffee.
And the way the sun peeks through the leaves in the trees.
The small crack of a smile from a person you pass on the street.
Or the warm sensation of touch.
The flowers that bloom without asking for permission.
And the way your heart leaps with joy when you hear a favorite song.
The pleasure of just being alive.
These are things I’m paying attention to this month – without sharing it or taking a picture. I want to fully BE in MY life when I’m immersed in and surrounded by beauty.
When was the last time you allowed yourself to be fully present in YOUR life?
Some GOOD (Millionaire) questions to ponder on
Here are some questions for you to ponder on.
- Who am I?
- What do I *really* want?
- What does my good life LOOK like?
- How would living my good life FEEL like?
- What (baby) step can I take TODAY to move closer to my own good life?
My hope for you is that one day (at the age of 79+), you’ll look back at your million-minute-life and be proud of yourself. I hope you’ll have lived your life the way you wanted. With the people you wanted. In a healthy body and a mind that is smart enough to not spend so much time consuming and instead listen to your own inner wisdom.
I hope you make it a GOOD life to remember.
